S&W 1911

I was poking around a gunshop and looked at a new one. The owner quoted me 625 out the door.

This one is SS with all the toys...

Anyone have any first hand knowledge of them?

    What is the availability of the S&W 1911? I have not seen any
    advertised in the SGN.
    Have there been any problems with the pistol?

    Kimber! =) Specially if you going to get a Gold Match.

    You really have a number of choices. Kimber, S&W, Springfield Armory and others. I would try to handle and/or shoot a bunch before making up your mind. Try and decide if you want a defensive or target gun--if you aren't sure simply make a choice as to which is more important then go from there.

    I am looking for target shooting. The Smith was recommended as a real shooter and its price is pretty good. Just wanted to run it by you guys.

    Hi Moe1,

    I will begin by saying I am biased for Kimber. I own a Colt 1911 and a Kimber Gold Match.

    After comparing the alpha-omega of 1911s, I would never go back to the anything other than the Kimber. I can take my Colt and shake it and hear it rattle (as it should) but the Kimber has such close tolerances there is no rattle. It is reliable also. Trigger pull out of the box about 3.5 pounds and deadly accurate.

    Hello You s tated that you wanted a target type 1911 . Be aware that the S & W 1911 is "NOT" legal in a CMP match. As with any competitive shooting make sure the firearm you are planning on buying meets the rules. quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

    if you choose the smith ,make sure it passed the recall or made after it
