Browning A-bolt II trigger pull?

I have a white gold medallion in .270 that has a pretty heavy trigger. I find myself pulling just slightly to the right due to the weight of the trigger. It seems to be crisp enough and there is no takeup, just heavy.

I have looked at the adjuster on the trigger and it is backed out as far as it will go from the factory.

Can this trigger be lightened without replacement? There is an excellent gunsmith here in Austin but he is out of the office till the 18th. Would like to know what can be done.

    Replace the coil spring with a lighter one. This is the spring around the adjusting screw.

    I have an A-Bolt II Stainless Stalker in .270 WSM. It came from the factory with a 5 lbs trigger pull. It was crip with no creep or overtravel, but was just too heavy. My gunsmith adjusted it down to 2.75 lbs, but didn't mention anything about replacing springs. I don't know what he did, but it's really sweet now.

    I've read good reports about that spring, and am considering one for my A Bolt II as well.

    I called Allen Timney directly and talked to him. He said he had not used the springs in an A-bolt II yet but expected them to work fine. Then he asked if I would like him to send them to me. So I said "sure". He puts his wife on the phone and she takes my information down and says we will send them to you. Never asked for payment or anything.

    I found them on the web for around $15.

    When I get them if they work I plan to send Mr. Timney $15 for them since he was kind enough to send them to me without asking for money.

    I noticed too that Browning will send stuff for free. I would call them for some parts and to invoice me. They always came with a paid invoice. Talk about customer service.

    The folks at Timney are excellant ! Every time i've contacted them with a question or needing a part they have went out of their way to help me. on one occasion i needed a light trigger for a target rifle my dad and i were building, so i called them they pulled a timney featherweight trigger from the shelf had it disassembled inhouse and hand stoned and tweaked to perfection for me befor shipping. talk about service.

    I've always followed my father's advice: he told me, first to always keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult you, you can be damn sure I intend to. And, third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble.
