Nylon 66 (Ivory)
I have the opportunity to buy a Nylon 66 with an Ivory colored stock. Has anyone got any information on ivory stocked 66's? Ihave never seen one . Any idea as to value? I don't have a price yet, but I don't want to get burned.

I'm no "66" expert,but,all I've ever seen is brown,green,or black.
Aftermarket[?]In any case,if in 90% or better shape and the price isn't out of line for a standard "66"($90-$100),I'd jump on it just because of it's uniqueness(sp).

Rumor has it that a number of "SPECIAL" colors were used to mold Nylon 66 stocks for "SPECIAL" presentations , executive retirements, etc..... Let us know what it turns out to be...

I've never seen one, either. It would be interesting to pop the barrel off and look at the inside of the stock to see if it is molded in solid ivory Zytel of if just the outer sufaces have been somehow "bleached". I'd put two bills down on it just for bragging rights amongst the "nylonophiles". Keep us posted.

I've collected Remington 22 rifles for over seven years. I've never heard of or seen such a bird.
But having collected Rem. 22's for that long I've learned one thing. You never know what they were going to do just to through you off. I have some rifles that don't appear in books, catalogs or written on a piece of paper but came out of the factory. You couldn't get me to bet a cent against it not being a factory custom or short run.

Well, now I done it!!! I done bought it sight unseen for fifty bucks. The hitch; it's in a box...needs re-assembling.
I understand they are very hard to assemble. Does anyone know where I can find instructions? I'll pick it up tonight.

"The NRA Guide to Rifles and Shotguns" 1980 Edition, ISBN 0-935998-32-2 has the IPB & disassembly instructions for the Remington Nylon 66.
Looks like a lot of little parts and springs, something like this manual dexterity and patience required. Best lay off the coffee and booze for a couple of days.
Go to www.bookfinder.com as the above is a paperback, you can usually pick up used copies inexpensively.

Last time I bought a gun that was parts in a box, I didn't have a manual so I took another gun exactly like it apart and matched up the parts of the two guns and made a diagram. I found 3 small parts missing. After I bought these, I had no problem getting it together. Remember that Nylon 66's must be cocked (safety on) to reassemble properly. It's a pain, but you can cock the trigger group after removal if necessary, best to do it before disassembly. Good luck on your project. The stock alone should be worth the price you paid; congratulations on your find.

I once did a stock swap on a Nylon76. It was not at all difficult, just have patience when trying to attatch the trigger spring. That's the only pain-in-the-behind with it. Post some pictures when you get it done...sounds very interesting.

I suspect paint. Are you sure it is a Remington? I seem to recall a company that made clones, but I do not recall any ivory ones. 0 -

I have copies of all the old adds and the hard to find, Field Service Manual. Let me know if you could use it. I have re-assembled one, and it is difficult, but can be done. The Field Service Manual was a great help. No, I am not trying to sell the manual.
