Best Buller Weights
I'll be hunting whitetail at ranges under 50 yards in thick woods and open green fields. Of the following calibers, what is the suggested "Best" factory bullet (weight and type) of each one. Thanks in advance

(2) 45-70 Gov
(3) 30-30

.308 best all around bullet ,choose the wieght depending on your gun and rifling
i will now put ten round mags in all my pre ban guns ,just to show defiance

On the .308 and 30-30 I would say go the heaviest bullet available if you are trophy hunting. Speed and accuracy of the load will not make much of a difference at 50 yards. The heavier load will help withstand accidental contact with brush and have better knockdown power with the sectional density. If you were hunting at longer ranges than I would go the 165 grain on the .308 because it seems to be a more natural load, but that is just generalizing as every rifle shoots one load more accurate than the next.

for the 30-30 go with a 170gr bullet
for the .308 go with a 165gr or maybe even 180gr , whichever you prefer0
