mauser ID

came across 2 old mausers, wondering what they are. Sorry i dont have access to a digital camera. The first one has a marking on the reciever that are in this oder
FABRIC CARMAS
____OVIEDO
_____1929
with the fabic carmas is in a U shape. It also says
OVIEDO SPAIN M1916
SAMCO MIA FL 7MM MAU
at the end of the botom side of the barrel. The serial number on the barrel and reciever is T9785.

The second one has markings on the reciever in this order (THE LINES ARE JUST SPACE TAKERS)

_____ANK___ARA ______________(OR ARK, CANT TELL)
______K KHALE
_______1943
and it has a star over a crescent moon in the center. The end of the barrel is marked
M1938 GERMAN 8MM
C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT.

IF ANYONE CAN HELP IDENTIFY THESE AND TELL ME WHAT THEY ARE AND IF THERE ANY GOOD I WOULD A PPRECIATE IT.

    Hi all, question, i aquired my dads rifles and need to id 3 mauser rifles and need a site with pics so i can see what i have. they all have been sporterized by him, all still have original barrles,bolts and receivers. any idears where i can find info with pics.

    Check out www.samcoglobal.com and see if either or both of these are listed. Sounds like the 7mm is Spanish made, Ovieda, Spain. The other is a Turkish Mauser, 8mm.

    Sounds like salvage is right. I have a spainish mauser and recently determined it was a model 93. The guy told me that if the bolt face is "U" shaped it is a model 93. If the bolt face is round it is a model 95.

    The Samco Spanish Mauser is model 16 ,They have a good supply apparently ,as they have been advertising them for years. These started out as 7x57 but were rebarrelled to 7.62 Nato (308).Ive shot several of them and all were very accurate.
    The other is a Turkish Mauser 98.
    It was made at the K. Kale factory in Turkey . This is one of the better made in Turkey models. The best Turks were made by CZ and some were made in Germany I think.
    Either should make a good shooter.
    The Spanish is about $140 wholesale and the Turk is $100 - $ 150 depending on condition.

    As near as I can determine there were two or three different "spanish" model mausers. All were chambered in 7mm. The model 95 is a Chilean Mauser, built in Germany by Loeb I think. I believe that DWM also built some "spanish" mausers, and others were manufactured at one of two armories in Spain.

    Don't hold me to this as I am working off memory right now and can't find the book I need to verify.

    are they large ring or small ring, long action or intermediate action? any other specs would be appreciated also.

    To the best of my knowledge, all the 98's were/are large rings. And it is the only one to cock on the opening stroke. All the others cock on the closing stroke.

    Someone correct me if I'm in error on this.

    There are several small ring 98 mausers such as the Mexican mauser and the Chech 33/40,and other BRNO carbines. On a small ring the side rail is flush with the receiver ring. On a large ring there is a definate step from the siderail at the receiver ring.The small ring 98 was[and probably still is] a favorate for sporterizing due to its smaller size.Most gunsmiths consider them equal in strength, as did mauser since both were chambered in the full range of calibers. If I'm not mistaken, most post war commercial mausers,such as FN, were small ring.
