Star Pistol - Quality?
I have always been told that Star pistols are crap. I recently talked to a guy who told me that the quality of a Star is actually quite high. What do you guys think?

Star pistols are a very good quality pistol. I have owned a few and have never had a problems with them. my business partner has carried Star pds in .45 cal since the early 80's and swears by them. Almost all of the security details we did from about 85-91, that was his weapon of choice in the field. Now the newer Stars, I heard a few things not so good about them, but nothing anymore than any other maker I have ever heard about. I think the only problem with Stars right now is finding parts for them since they are not made anymore. 0 -
Ditto what Roy said. I personnally thinkthat most of the aforementioned bad press may have in fact come from some other manufacturers as well! It is truely a shame that some of these old quality makers are no longer of this world! Competition, in my view, promotes quality products, and the gun world is not better off without Star breathing down the necks of Colt's and Smith etc...

There was a thread a while back here on GB where I gave a step-by-step procedure for the Star BM. I believe that you can even find it by Googling Star Model BM. I had a Model B way back in the late sixties and it was a fine piece. The BMs are now on the market for 130. to .150. I put Wolff recoil springs on mine and it is a really accurate and reliable pistol. I like mine so much that I sold my tupperware 9mms. 0 -
Good Quality...have owned several Models over the years...Never a problem......best........

I have two Star pistols (B Super and BM) and both are well made and reliable.
It's Llama (another spanish manufacturer)that makes crap.

Tear the tree out of the ground by the roots and burn it. Burn it to ash and grind out the embers with your boot until there's nothing left. Not a single spark. Not a single seed.0 -

Would you call this Llama crap? Mostly I'll have to agree but, once in a while a nice one comes along.Mine is a .22.I have a neighbor that has .44 mag.Super Comache and loves it has had it for years. I'd consider Star & Astra both high quality.I own both.

I have owned several Firestars in .40, 9mm as well as Star PD's and an Ultra Star. My experience is that Stars are quality well made pistols. Mine have been excellent shooters. Only draw back I see is they are a little on the heavy side. -Don
