NEF/H&R Ultra Slug Hunter questions
I think i am going to buy a NEF Ultra Slug hunte in 12 ga. it has the heavy barrel, are these good durable, reliable guns? Do i have to worry about them breaking or are they pretty reliable? also do they have the 10 ga reciever?

I just got one in 12 guage. Haven't shot it yet but it sure seems well built. I have several other H&R/NEF guns and LOVE them all. I've heard nothing but good things about the Ultra Slug Hunter. Supposedly they are very accurate up to 125-150 yds. It's sure got some weight to it, that's for sure -- should help with the recoil some. I got a Sims Limbsaver slip-on recoil pad for mine to help in that area as well (takes size small). I'm still picking a scope.
As for your receiver question, H&R lists all the rifles, 10 guages, the 12 guage Ultra Slug Hunter, and 20 guage Ultra Slug Hunter Deluxe as SB-2. All other shotguns are listed SB-1. This leads me to beleive the Slug Hunter does have the stronger receiver (see www.HR1871.com).

It's got all kinds of posts about the Ultra Slug Hunter (lots more opinions and info.). From what I've read it seems like people actually prefer the 20 guage Ultra Slug Hunter -- say it's even more accurate and kicks a lot less. Good Luck.0
