Hello the slide should read national COLT automatic
    *match* .38 special
    MID RANGE
This pistol first made in 1960 frame should be serial 100-NMR thru 54XX-NMR for just over 5300 guns ended production 1967 had three different barrel designes trying to get to shoot small groups. This pistol was made by colt to compeat with S & W model 52 but these guns never shot great groups. One reason was they were straight blow back no locking lugs .This said they do have collector interest . Mint guns will bring BIG money but 80% guns are bought for the frame to build 45acp on I would do a search on what they have sold for on this sight. quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

Mine is serial number 77xx MR. I bought it on GB a year or so ago for $1000. It is in 99% condition. It had no box,or paperwork, and two mags. I like mine. They are pretty rare. You don't see a whole lot of them.

    Gun control means all X's.

I used to have one, never shot as good as my S&W m-52. The ones I've seen sold lately go for $1500 +- w/o the box ect.

Thanks for the replies! This one is 100% mint, it has very slight blue wear on the hammer where it meets the firing pin. No other wear or marks. The serial number is in the low three digit range. The markings are all correct.

    Thanks again!

I have one of these pistols in mint condition with 2 extra mags, box, test target, instruction pamphlet, warranty card, tools, etc.; I paid $1000 for it about three years ago.
