The "best" .380 ammo

Before we go any further I know that the .380 isn't the best defense round, and I agree, I normally carry a 1911. But there are those occassions that I need the smaller profile of the little Colt Pony. The ramp has been polished and seems to feed even the most aggressive "looking" HP's but does anyone have any input on which brand has the best stoppig balistics?

    from all i have read and tried through my kel tec 380 the remington golden saber seems too be about the best for reliability and penetration.from short barrel guns it has been tested too mushroom really well.hope this helps don

    Assuming that your feed ramp is polished, and will feed them, I prefer to use the Federal Hydra-Shoks. But you might try three or four different brands and see which one your pistol likes best, then go with that one.

    You might try the Glaser Safety Slugs, too. I have them in several handguns, both revolvers and semi autos. They feed like ball ammo in my s.a.'s, and have awesome knockdown power too. This only applies in states where the air is free to breathe!

    Remember it is not the round that matter most here. Stopping power is all about shot placement and penetration. Two or 3 well place shots with FMJ is better than a whole mag of misplaced shots of the best ammo money can buy.

    Another thing to consider is what will your threat most likely be wearing. ie summer clothing which is a lot thinner and usually made of light weight materials or will it be in a cold region where everyone is wearing thick heavy coats and multiple layers.

    If a person is wearing a lot of thick clothing a hollow point can clog up and will not expand. But if I had to choose a .380 HP I would probably go with Corbon 380 AUTO -- 90gr JHP -- 1050fps/220ftlbs.
