AK-74, attaching the receiver
I have bought a nice AK-74 kit without the receiver. I want to know if I should go with rivets or nuts and bolts to attach the receiver. Any info on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure you will get some good answers here, but here are some websites that are more specificaly geared for your project. www.ak47.net www.gunco.net www.akfiles.com. You will find varying opinions on screw builds vs rivets. At gunco.net look for a guy named HCpookie. he seems to be very creative in building rivet equipment. 0 -
I have never believed in rivets for any purpose. Bolt it on, IMHO.

It is supposed to have rivets, and I have heard of complaints of bolts coming loose, as well as not looking proper. The only problem is in order to rivet the parts together, the barrel must be pressed out of the trunnion. This isn't that hard to do but when pressing it back together you must go slow and use go and no go gauges. I guess it depends on which you prefer. 0 -
Use the rivits and a big hammer!
And you dont have to remove the barrel from the trunion!
If my 13yr old grand kid can put one together in about 2hrs you can too!
