What can be rechambered/barreled for 460 Weatherby
I want to build a 460 Weatherby at a fairly modest price. Can something like a CZ 550 or 602 be rechambered or rebarreled easily? I'm trying to stay away from single shots if at all possible. any input you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Don't we all... but, to answer your question, here is the blurb from the CZ website:

Now, since the Rigby has a rim size of approximately .590 (.586) and so does the Weatherby (.582), you can buy the CZ550 Safari and re-barrel for the .460 WBY. Or you could buy the .458 Win. Mag., re-chamber and open the boltface and modify the extractor slightly for the proper rim diameter. The question to ask CZ is about the size of the Win. Mag. box with an eye towards using the longer and larger diameter .460 WBY cartridge. The rails from the .458 action will obviously need adjusting also.
The American in .458 Lott will get you closer for the magazine length and the barrel can be re-chambered, then the rails and boltface get opened up.
Or either version in 416 Rigby can be re-bored to .458 and rechambered for not a lot of cash. You should look at the drawings of both cartridges to see if the Weatherby will clean up the Rigby chamber. This is something that you should do for yourself, anyway, since it will familiarize you with the dimensions that you want to work with.

Yea, they sqaushed my daffodils, and I'm PO'd[}:)] I had a 460 back in the 80's that I traded for and subsequently traded away[:(]I would like to have another just for fooeys and giggles for the times when my 454 Casull won't punish me enough[:D] . I just like pain I guess.

a p14/m1917 enfield can be rebuilt for a .460 also. 0 -
There appears to be a couple thousandths clearance in the shoulder according to my chamber drawings should you go the 416 rigby direction, lots of room everywhere else.

That's why it's fairly normal procedure to set a barrel back one thread even on chambers that appear to be cleaned up by a new reamer when the measurements are close.

The thread above regarding the Sako TRG-S set me to thinking and it will hold the larger belted cartridges also, since it's chambered for the 30-378. They are reasonbly priced but you will have to probably re-barrel. There is also some contention about plastic parts and they would need to be replaced.

you can buy the CZ magnum action out of brownells. Then simply barrel it in 460wthby the first time and save time and money.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
