Westernfield M550ABD 12ga. question
Hello everyone. I have a question about this gun. It has been told to me that the Westernfield M550ABD is the same gun as the Mossbert 500 just renamed for sale at Sears. Is this correct? If so would a typical Mossberg scope mount fit the Westernfield? I am thinking of putting on a Red Dot scope on my gun and do not know exactly what to get.

You are partially corect....Mossberg did contract to make many models of Westernfield shotguns, they were for Montgomery Wards, not Sears.
Wards contracted out to Savage, Marlin, Colt, Noble, and Mossberg.
The differences between the two may be small, usually economy versions of a Mossberg with less features. Unclear if the scope mount would fit...probably have to try it an see.0 -
The crossover list in the BB shows thst Western Field was a trade name used by Monkey Ward before they went out of business.
I can't find the "ABD" in that list but they have "A", "AS", "B", "C" & "E". All crossover to various models of the Mossberg Model 500 shotgun.
Brownells www.brownells.com carry (2) different saddle mounts for the Mossberg 500 shotgun.
I would give their techs a call, at 800-741-0015. Hopefully they could tell you if the mounts woud fit your ABD model.
