1894 winchester rifle

Hi,my dad gave me his old 30-30 rifle, and I looked up the manufacture date, which is 1910. It's a saddle rifle, he said it's the best deer rifle he ever used. My dad bought it when he was young, probably in the 1940's, and carried it on his saddle for years as a rancher and outfitter in AZ, so it's not in pristine shape. I'm curious as to the possible value, although it's too precious to me to sell, I'd like to know what it's worth. Thanks! Elaine

    Captain Kirk,Bert or Dave will be along to give you a current ballpark.I just wanted to say I'm glad you're not considering selling it!!! The price you would get certainly won't change your lifestyle,but few family heirlooms carry as much sentimental value as a well used firearm.Enjoy it and pass it on[8D]

    Good morning Elaine! Welcome to the forum! There are a few things we will need to know, some we might be able to guess but it's best you tell us.
    1)Barrel length, measure from the end of the barrel to where it goes into the receiver, (we can add the rest)
    2) Is the barrel round, half round/half octogon?
    3) Model number?
    4) Since this was your dad's "working" gun I'm guessing there isn't much blue left? How are the stocks, any deep gouges, scrathes, chips?
    5) Any rust, pits, or deep scares in the metal? How is the bore, dark, somewhat bright, very bright?

    Please tell us everything!! I will say this, there aren't many 94 year old Winchesters around. I'm sure your dad took care of it since it was his working gun.
    The above info will be very helpfull in trying to establish exactly what you have, and an approximate value. Regards Dave
