Mini-14 Folding Stock

The folding stock you bought was designed for Mini-14's made before September, 1994. Ruger has obviously made some changes since then, but of course, the folder stayed the same. Certainly, someone will soon be making folding stocks with necessary adjustments for later versions of the Mini-14. But if you can get thew earlier one to work, what the heck? Put some plastic "buttons" or plugs in the holes, tweek heat shield as necessary.

10-4 on the buttons or plugs...would some appropriately sized cartridge caps work, machined down, of course? Now how do I "tweek" the heatshield? Can't find any screws or other adjustments to make.
    Would some bathtub caulk work?[;)]

Just joshing, but I AM very inexperienced at firearm adjustments.

I was going to suggest some bedding material from Brownells, but that would probably not be too good for the "plastic" folding stock material. I know it's not real plastic, just a figure of speach. But finding anything that will bond to it successfully may be a big problem.

I am just tossing this out, it just might be best for you to wait until they come out with a folder that is really designed for the newer Mini-14's. Those old Butler Creek folders are very nice, probably the best after market folder. You should be able to find someone with an older Mini-14 who wants one.

My big concern would be, everyone is jumping into buying folders and bayonet lugs and flash hiders to add to their rifles now. The future is unpredictable, maybe there will be another ban soon, some folks think so. If there is no further ban in the next three or four months, new folding stocks that are just what you need will be showing up for reasonably low prices.

The "post ban" prices of the BC folders was inflated, but did this inflation match what the prices of the new ones will be? Will it be possible to buy a new Mini-14 folding stock for $50 or $60 in the next three months? Maybe....

Heck, it's only money. Just buy an earlier Mini-14 version and use the BC folder on it. When (and if) they come out with new folders for the newer Mini-14's, buy another folder. Then you will have two legit Mini-14 folders. Tell the wife you are waiting for the next ban, when they will both be worth $1,000.00.

I like your thinking on the older Mini-14 et al. Now, if I can just find that box of gold coins buried in the back yard. [:o)]

As to a new ban, if we can remove some of those leftist losers in the Senate and House...and keep a good man in the White House, we should be able to enjoy another brief span of LIBERTY once again.
