Value of a Winchester Model 74

My shop has a model 74 on the rack. The serial number is 311xxxA, but does not have the scope grooves on the receiver. It is marked "22 long rifle" and has the sporting sights. The bluing is about 80%. No rust, just a lot of fading. The wood is near perfect. The rifling, crown, and action have been well cared for. Is $149 a fair price?

  Yes, it is a fair price... not a killer deal, but it's not over priced either. The serial number indicates the DOM is circa 1952.

  Does this rifle have any collector value that I should be aware of or should I just consider it a unique shooter?

  No, the Model 74 is not what most people would consider collectable (or unique). Winchester manufactured 406,574 of them between February 15, 1939 and December 1955.
  
  There are no unusual quirks or problems with this model, and like any other semi-auto 22 caliber, simply keeping the action clean will prevent most problems.
