Info on Marlin 24G 12 ga
I have a Marlin Model 24G in 12 gauge. The serial number is A206XX. I had it professionally restored with a case colored reciever, complete disassembly and rust blue with nitre blue screws, the forcing cones tapered out a bit more, the action slicked out, the wood restored to Marlin original finish, the hatch markings and all other lettering figures redone. It is absolutely like new in all regards. I asked the fellow that did it if I could hunt with it again, he said yes, just not anything in the magnum loadings. After reading the "old remington test fire" post I am wondering how you guys feel about my old Marlin and turkey hunting. I don't want to shoot the latest and greaest 2 3/4 inch magnum but I would like to shoot long brass 4's in it. What do you think and why? Also, does anybody have an idea when this gun was manufactured? Thanks in advance.

Seeing all the effort and money you have put into the Marlin, having it restored. I sure wouldn't be taking it hunting. Accidents happen, how would feel if you dropped it or dinged the barrel or wood?

Thank you for your concern but I hunted a little with it before the restoration. (dove and rabbit) I had it restored to hunt with it again. I admit dumping $450.00 into an old shotgun that was already bought may seem silly to some but I would rather carry this old gun with tons of character than a new $2000 o/u that doesn't seem at home in the sticks or my hands. Different strokes for different folks I guess. [:D]
