Anyone seen one of these Rem. Light Varmints?

Just wanted to see if anyone has seen, shot, or handled on of these Remington Light Varmit's? What did you think?
I like the idea of the one in 7mm-08 but it actually wish it was heavier than it states at 6 3/4 pounds. I wonder if that barrel is pretty thin.

    WOW! I could use one of those. I varmint hunt in the Mid-West, do a lot of walking sometimes. The ranges I shoot at the 22" barrel is of no concern. But I do move between woods and fields over long distances. Hmmm maybe in that Ruger 204 caliber...

    I fired a 17 Super Bee version. They are the same quality as a fullsize version. Just wish they made one in 220 Swift, i love seeing contrails in the morning from them.

    Looks good, except for maybe the larger calibers, unless you like recoil. I had a Ruger #1 in the lightweight model, and had it further lightened by a gunsmith friend of mine. With scope it was six and a half pounds. Great to carry, but wouldn't want to shoot it too much in one day. Varmint rifles get a lot of rounds through them, and I like a little weight in something I shoot a lot.

    I held one at a gunshop and almost bought it over the VLS I got. One sweet shooting iron! The $150 more price tag swayed my buying decision. The barrel isn't thin it's fluted to save weight and dissapate heat.

    I have a VSSF in .22-250 and Love It! If the light shoots anything like the heavy gun it will be well worth the purchase. I agree with easygo6, I would like to own one in .204 Ruger. New caliber, new model Remington rifle and I've had one in my hands and can't wait to get it to the range in my near future. If you are looking for a lighter gun in 7mm-08 perhaps you should consider the model 7. I have one with a laminated stock and have yet to take game with it but, never regret buying it when I put it in the cabinet at the end of the day afield.

    It's basicaly a lightened version of the VSSF. If the barrels are anything near the same (which I would bet on) then they will no doubt impress.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    I just got one in 308. I haven't shot it yet. However with the R3 recoil pad, I don't think it will be bad at all.
