280 ON 110 ACTION
I'M BUILDING A 280 REM ON A 110 ACTION W/ ADAMS & BENNETT BARREL, BELL & CARLSON STOCK. HAS ANY BODY HERE DONE THAT AND WHAT KIND OF ACCURACY SHOULD I EXPECT. IT IS ALSO BEING BEDDED. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON POWDER OR SLUGS TO USE. ANY AND ALL ADVISE WILL BE APPRECIATED. THANKS GUYS AND GIRLS.[:)]

Hello, I've put together a couple of 25-06 rifles with the A&B middlen heavy contour barrel. They both eventually shot under a minute of angle. The one I built on a stainless barrel came close to be 1/2 a minute with the right reloads. Still while the barrels shot well enough at the range they were heavy and not great for cross country walks. I let a couple of friend who were wowed by the groups talk them off me. The 280 Rem is one of the great all time cases that hasn't made it in a big way, go figure. I will be carrying mine in a couple weeks off on a deer/black bear hunt. If I was just going for the deer, I'd have loaded 140g Sp on top of Reloader 19. It would be dealers choice as to what brand of slug. Speer hot cores are one of my favorites, tough enough but not so pricey that I don't want to practice with the actuall hunt combo. As I going out after bear also I've steped up to 150g but am still using the hot core, though I did think long and hard about going with the partition or the X bullet. You've picked a good cartridge, if you are using that F34 barrel I'd suggest you find a local machine shop and get it fluted to make it more carry friendly. Do that after you bed it to the action otherwise the epoxy can be a problem in the flutes. 0 -
