Handgun Hanging for storage in safe
I am trying to squeeze a little more room out of my safe. I am thinking about using a rack of dowels for my handguns on the top shelf, to put them side by side with the dowel in the bore. Everything in the safe is protected by a 'goldenrod' as well as a couple of canisters of desicant that I re-condition periodically with similar jugs in my ammo cabinet.
Anybody see any problems ? Better suggestions are appreciated.
(and no, I can't buy another safe right now)
If we do not hang together,
We will most certainly hang separately.

Dowel rods are fine, just get fiberglass or hard plastic and you won't have to worry about the inside of the barrels. Just a thought.

I like the velcro door holsters. I hope you can make out how they work from the pic. I think I paid $30.00. They work great even with heavy pistolas.

Squeezing more room from a safe can be a real challenge. Made aluminum brackets to slide holsters, handguns, and knives on. Built metal shelves (covered with fabric) installed under the existing shelves to hold ammo and "special guns". Also installed strip magnets covered with fabric to hold extra shotgun barrels.

Great feedback.. I am going to try a combination of the suggestions. I really need to free up my top shelf for 'keep-sake pictures' and my wifes jewelry box. (I probably said something like that before I bought the safe.)
Thanks guys.0 -
Rembrandt, keep storing those pistols in leather and it will take the blueing off the guns. 0 -
Hedog, the ones in holsters are all stainless....(cept for one slide on a 45) 0
