Browning Over/Under 12ga shotgun identification

I recently acquired an Older Browning Over/Under 12ga shotgun in near perfect condition. I have been unsuccessful in finding out an exact model name (Citory, Superpose, etc.). The only markings I find on this firearm is the Browning name, "made in Belgium", serial number, and various makers marks (symbols). I would figure this shotgun to be from the 50's or 60's. I do not have the serial number with me right now as I am at work but I was wondering if anyone would be able to help with this identification problem I am having? Once I can determine the Model,I would like to date it thru Browning.com and possibly get an estimated value for insurrance purposes.

    If it is as old as you say it is, odds are that it is a Superposed.

    When I get home then I should probably look at the serial number and go to Browning.com and look under the Superposed dating section to see if the serial numbers correlate? Would this be the best way to determine the Model?

    I just looked on the shotgun under the barrel release for the serial number and it is listed as 28050 S4. Below is the listing for the Superposed serial numbers from the Browning web site:

    1963-68 From 1962 serial numbers were followed by the date of manufacture.
    2S=12 gauge for the year 1962.
    2V=20 gauge for the year 1962.
    2F=28 gauge for the year 1962.
    2J=.410 bore for the year 1962.
    Example: 6556S2 = A 1962 Superposed 12 ga. shotgun with serial number 6556. S=12 gauge
    V=20 gauge
    F=28 gauge
    J=.410 bore


    Acording to this it should be a 1964 serial number 28050 12ga.

    Correct?

    Do you have any Idea of the value of this Shotgun? It is 90% original (great) condition. I would like to know for insurrance purposes.

    Realistic value is about $600 - $700. If you go to the auction side of this site, do a search on "Superposed"... you will see what others are "wishfully" asking for theirs.

    aerogenius ! Welcome to the forum. I think the only thing really established is your gun is a "Superposed" and was made in 1962. Without knowing the barrel lenght or chokes, or if it has a nonfactory recoil pad, (stock length if it has a pad) kind of hard to put a value on it. If it has 26 in. barrels choked skeet & skeet, it would be worth more than one with 30 in. barrels choked Full & Modified. Can you supply that info? Regards Dave
