1911 in 9mm

Have several 1911's all in .45ACP, do any of the gun manufacturers turn out a 1911 in 9mm today?

    I was out shooting my Norinco 1911 45 acp, along with my Star Super B 9mm. I love the slim grip of the Star. I then wondered why a company like Rock Island does not make a 1911 9mm in the 400-500 dollar range. I know that numerous manufacturers make 1911 9mm's, but their price tag is always around 1,000 or more. Could a manufacturer produce a 1911 in 9mm for less, or is it too difficult, thus justifying the price. Could the problem be that there is not enough demand for that caliber. It would be much cheaper to shoot than 45ACP or 38 Super, even though I enjoy each of them.

    Yes. Springfield, Dan Wesson, and I assume many others. I'm looking for one also and would be interested in hearing input on accuracy. I have fired a Dan Wesson just last week (don't remember the model)at 50 ft. range and it was dead center.

    There's a couple of Springfield "loaded" models on GB for sale.

    Kimber is making a 9mm and there are alot of Colt 9mm guns around as well. I have had very good accuracy and reliability with my Kimber. The 9mm magazines tend to be a little more prone to failure than .45 mags in my experience.

    Just curious, but have you considered 38Super? More reliable mags, more power on-target, and less recoil (in my hands) than 9mm.

    Hello you can use the same frame for 9MM, 38 super & 45acp just change top half, mag and ejector also 22 conversion unit you have the same trigger and grips so easy to switch guns and not have to "learn another gun". quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

    If you reload and you get a .38 Super, consider using .38 supercomp brass. It's pretty much just like .38 super without the semi-rim, so it's more reliable. You might have to tweak your extractor tension a little.

    a 38 super 1911 has been on my list for a while. i might just have to get one now

    Why not try to find a hi-power. Browning corrected the problems with the 1911 and chambered it for 9mm. (I know he did not finish the design.)
