Lefever 20 ga.
Have a Lefever 20 ga. that has the following markings. It was made in Syracuse NY. The Pat. dates are 1872-88-90-94-1907. The underside has the numbers and letters
226 ADBS
24
There is no engraving and the wood looks to have no special grain. It is checkered and it has extractors not ejectors.
My qusetion is, what is the grade and probably value of this side by side? My customer wants to hav eth wood repalced and the gun returned back to as close to orginal as posable.

Field gun. Damascus or steel? The difference is considerable.
In either case it would seem that the gun has seen better days. Being a 20 ga. will help, but the information supplied doesn't encourage me to say great things.
Value might be $300 if fluid steel and in good enough mechanical condition to take afield. It would be much better to repair (restore) the gun than to replace components in my opinion. In any case there'll be no financial incentive to do much to the gun as there can be no return.

The gun is fluid steel. It is a box lock also.

Hello"NORD" has it about right if it is BOXLOCK but I am surprised with those PAT.dates and SYRACUSE name that it is not a side lock gun. 0
