Is electronic hearing protection legal for hunting
Is electronic hearing protection legal for hunting in MI and MN? I've emailed DNR in both states twice and left voice messages at DNR in both states twice. I've received no responsoe from either. I want to know if I can use a Walker Game Ear , or similiar device, for hunting in these states. I have been unable to find the answer on their web sites or in printed material.
After my last turkey and deer hunts, I now have a permanent ringing in my ears. It can only be detected when everything is dead quiet, but I don't want to make things worse. In the past, I have hunted without hearing protection. Hunting in cold weather, I normally have a face mask, stocking cap and hood over my ears, which has provided sufficient hearing protection. The past two hunts were unseasonably warm and I didn't have anything pulled over my ears. I want to protect my hearing, but would like to be able to hear game and other hunters. Thanks.

I don't see why that would be illegal anywhere. Electronic game calling is restricted, but as far as I know there aren't any restrictions regarding hearing or electronic hearing protection. I believe that you should be fine using your electronic hearing protection.
