.45 LONG COLT IN A .454 CASULL

I had a question from a friend that I just didn't have the answer for. Can you shoot .45LC ammo in a .454 Casull? He owns a Taurus Raging Bull doesn't reload and wants to be able to shoot less exspensive and lighter recoiling ammunition. I see that the .45LC rim is slightly thicker but didn't see any other differences. Thanks.

  Yes, you can shoot 45 Long Colt in a 454 Casull... it is essentially the same thing as shooting .38 Special in a .357 Magnum, or .44 Special in a .44 Magnum.

  just to add a little to what Bert said , remember to clean the cylinder holes real well (after shooting the 45lc ) as they will build up a ring of crud right at the front of the case and being a little shorter than the 454 case that ring will make it hard to seat the longer 454 case if not cleaned out , other than that , no problem [:D]
  
  I know of several guys that use hot 45lc loads instead of the 454, they figured out that they really didn't need that hard kicking round for deer hunting [;)]

  Amen to the ring of crud advice posted above. I bought a Ruger .44 Magnum from my shooting range which apparently had been used only with .44 Special ammo. I had to soak the chambers overnight with patches saturated with Hoppe's #9 to remove the rings with a bronze brush.
