Anyone loading these in 28ga and how many loads are you getting out of the hulls on average.

    Thanks

A friend has been loading them in 28 gauge. He has loaded some 5 or 6 times so far and show no signs of splitting. He says he is happy with them. I am loading them in 410 and have loaded some 10 times and only had one split so far.I am finding that if the hulls are warm when you load them they do not split as fast or as readily.I loaded some old style AA hulls last winter in my unheated garage and was having 10% split. When loading the same hulls this summer I had none split. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the "old" Winchester AA hulls and the new "HS" hulls? Are they new and improved or are the old ones better for reloading? I like the old ones, but have acquired a few hundred each in 20ga, 28ga, and 410ga. Do I need different wads now? Any help would be appreciated.

    This is for ishootblanks.
The "new -improved"??? Winchester AA's are actually a three part shell. There is the brass, a short inner tube , and then the outer tube. I have talked to several people that are loading the new shells and they tell me that the only adjustment needed is to raise the last stage-crimping die a little. (The die that put the cavity in the nose of the shell). If you don't, it will buckle the hull wall. They seem to think it is as good as the original compression formed shells.
I talked to the guys at the Winchester factory and they said that it was getting too expensive to keep the old equipment working and that it was also an expensive process to begin with, so instead of replacing the compression forming equipment, the went to this new design.
    Hope this helps,
    Taperloc.

Leave it to Winchester to do it their way, NOT what the People want. I have never tryed the new 3 pice hull, I use Remington nitro and get 20 to 25 reloads out of them, I have loaded the AA winchester hull's never got as many reloads out of them as I do my remingtons.
