I think the concensus on this forum is "Most shooters find that detachable mags do not work well in the SKS." A small percentage of shooters have found rifle/mag combinations that work well. However, most have not.

As for your AR, the most reliable mags are USGI & thermold. I would guess that your cheap mags are causing you the problem. Try USGI mags; they aren't expensive.

No mag manufacturer has announced plans to resume the production of high cap mags. However, it is a safe bet that many will, & that the prices will be less than during the ban. None of us has a crystal ball. Relax, it won't be long.

Only guy on here I know that can get those SKS mags to work is King Joey and I haven't seen him here in awhile.

As far as AR mags, get rid of those cheap USA brand mags and get yourself some good GI contract mags.

    Check out
    http://www.tapco.com

I believe they are selling new contract mags for $9.99. If tapco is out of stock check out Aim Surplus.

KJ's detachables are type D's....they are specifically made to accept AK mags. He has gotten the regular type to use the 'duckbill' mags, just a little work with the dremel on the mag well and mag lips.

Got a new gun for my ex-wife.....pretty good trade, huh?
