Old Central Arms Shotgun

Hello friends,a buddy of mine at work asked me to try and find out any info on a old Central Arms shotgun he has,so here I am.
He said it was 12ga,with "S" shaped double exposed hammers,and silver or nickle reciever,no serial numbers,also stamped St. Louis,Mo.It was solen from him some time ago,and now recovered he wants to insure it,but the insurance co. wants to know what kind of value to place on it.Any help you folks can come up with would be appreciated,Thanks,John

    Trade branded gun. Post WW1 but probably not newer than the late 30's.
    Value is so little as to be not worth insurance. Homeowners in most states will cover several times the worth of this piece.

    Value? Unless a .410, the gun will probably struggle to exceed the $150.00 mark.

    P.S. -

    I just read your post again and noticed "hammergun". This could move the date back to the 1890's. Since we're talking an inexpensive trade-branded gun, there may be ELG proofs under the barrels. It's even possible that the tubes are of damascus-type construction.

    In any case the value will remain unchanged. The only other issue will be safety. Don't even consider firing the piece without a prior checkup from a good gunsmith.

    Good Morning J-F., The CENTRAL ARMS CO., shotgun was made for the Shapleigh Hardware Company of St.Louis, Missouri by the CRESCENT Firearms Company, circa 1900's...Value as discribed....$250.00...As for No Serial Number.....There were guns made that were never Numbered...so have your Friend take some Quality Photographs for His records and to appease the Insurance Company send them copies for thier Records....best.....Captain Kirk, Tech Staff
