Duhh ... sorry, bad info. I was thinking of a different design ..J

A friend brought over a SA that had a two piece guide rod.
One part threaded into the other.
It was a bear to re-assemble.
I could not figure out the "trick" to getting it together.

He had it a year or so, and had no luck either.
It was too long to slip into place after the barrel, though my Para has the full-lenth rod, and slips in fine.

I got it together; it took 20 minutes or so.

We will be shooting Saturday (out of my half-brick of Ammoman.com FC Match, although I think the crimp taper on Foicchi is way smoother).

I'll have another crack at trying to figure out what the designers had in mind when they designed the guide rod.

1), Place the bottom part of the guide rod, with recoil spring attached in the assembly position,i.e. touching barrel link with the slide upside down.

2), Mate the frame in proper position, with the Slide Stop Hole in alignment with Link.

    3), Insert Slide Stop

4), Install Barrel Bushing, over Barrel. Insert Barrel Bushing in Slide and twist it as far to the left as you can.

5), Move Slide forward on Frame and lock it into position with Manual Safety.

6), Place Plug over Recoil Spring that is protruding from end of Slide.

7), Compress Recoil Spring by forcing Plug down into front of Slide.

8), Swing Barrel Bushing as far to the right as you can, so that it's bottom edge holds Plug and Recoil Spring in correct position in Slide.

9), With Allen Wrench install front portion of Guide Rod through Plug and Tighten.

Your probably have a problem with the slide not moving once you get it together ,and not able to get to adding the slide stop correct?

Turn the gun right side up ,give it a few shakes as you are moving the slide to the rear a bit ,then you can find the locking link to put the slide stop back in ,rufe-snow covered the rest

i will now put ten round mags in all my pre ban guns ,just to show defiance
