L.C. Smith double barrel 12 ga
just bought a L.C. Smith and I can't find a refferance to it in my books it is a side by side with 20 inch barrels with hammers it is IC choked and not damascus barrels but my books say the L.C. Smith from 1890 to 1945 in Fulton N Y but does not say any thing about the barrel lenghts or exsposed hammers serial # 1585XX F Can any of the experts help? thanks in advance Lee

If made in Fulton, NY, then a Hunter Arms gun. Hammerguns were quite popular up to WW1. After that hammerless took over.
Your gun... Barrels have been cut. Past that it doesn't much matter as any collector value has been destroyed. A sad thing to happen to a nice gun, but it makes every other remaining untouched Elcee worth just a bit more.
