Weatherby Mk V Custom Shop
I have seen some Weatherby's on the auction site stating US made, Germany made and Japan made. Is this about the same situation as with the Browning A5's? i.e. Belgium more valuable/collectible than Japan? If so, in what order? I assume the most valuable would be US made, then Germany, and then Japan. The reason being that myself and a friend rode our motorcycles right at 300 miles yesterday just killing a day and going to about 10 gun shops/pawn shops. In one shop, there was a Weatherby Mk V Custom Shop in 270 Weatherby Magnum. I think it is easily 96-98%. VERY nice gun. It was not the Crown Custom. Pretty extensive engraving on gun. The trigger was probably 50% wider than normal and grooved. Price was $850. Don't know if this is enough info but is price about right? My friend wants a BAR Grade III 270 (90-95%) that I have and I could take this and $200 and get this Weatherby. Which would be a better value? Neither my BAR nor this Weatherby would be one of my shooters, just one to turn over to boys later. Opinions appreciated!!

Weatherby's are flawless rifles. If it's another $200 over a Browning, I'd probably go for it if I had the cash. If it's German or US, definitely go for it. 0 -
Being a Weatherby affectionado, and collector, if it's a true Custom,....and you don't buy the 270 especially at that price no matter where made............please advise me of its location.

German s/n's start out with a 'P' and bring the higest value.
