A little help for a newbie seller ?
Hope I can get a little insight from some of you veterans. We have a few Long Rifles and Shotguns we want to sell . We live in New York State and are confused about shipping these if they sell at auction. Some say it is ok for us to ship to non-licensed persons within our own state borders while others say we can only ship to FFL dealers. Confusion ...Confusion....Confusion....and the ATF Website is no roadmap. So I figuredwho better to ask than all you folks who ship everyday. Any help the community can give us would be appreciated. You can NOT ship a firearm to a person. You have to ship it to a FFL Dealer.
When I ship one, I ship it to the person, in care of the FFL Dealer, like this:
John Smith
c/o Wild Bill's Guns
125 Main St.
Anywhere, USA
I put a note inside the package also, telling the dealer who the gun is for.
Also, if you're new to selling, you'll have no feedback rating. Some people, me included, won't buy anything expensive from a low or unrated seller. Here's some tips on building up your feedback.
1. Buy some gun related things on GB. It doesn't have to be expensive stuff, just pay quickly and get a good rep as a buyer.
2. Sell some inexpensive things too. You've probably got some small inexpensive gun related items you don't use anymore. When you sell something, give feedback as soon as you get the payment, ship it quickly.
Build your rep as a buyer and a seller, and you'll do good.

HAVE THE FFL DEALERS SEND YOU A SIGNED COPY OF THER FFL AND THEN USE "EZ-CHECK" ON THIS SITE. GOOD LUCK.

If you are NOT planning on shipping "from" an FFL (which is what I suspect) you might want to put something like this in your auction description, "It is the buyers responsibility to make SURE that your receiving FFL dealer will accept this firearm from a person that is NOT an FFL holder. Ask your FFL about this BEFORE bidding on this firearm"
This is becoming more and more of a problem these days, and we are hearing about it on this forum. The buyers FFL receives the firearm and ONLY THEN does the FFL tell him that he WANTS the firearm to come "from" an FFL holder. This is TOTALLY WRONG. This FFL holder is making up his own rules. An individual without an FFL CAN ship to an FFL dealer. But when the FFL refused to accept the firearm, now you have a sticky situation. He has the firearm, he refuses to log it into his books, so he can not pass it on to the buyer. He can not send it back to the owner, because the owner does not have an FFL. What to do, what to do.
Be prepared to enclose a copy of your drivers license along with the firearm.
This info is just so you can avoid any "potential" problems down the line.
