Trying to get an idea as to what a Belgium Browning Sweet 16, Serial# X44470, might be worth. I believe it was made in 1951, plain barrel and in very good to excellent condition. I have a chance to buy it and neither the seller or I really know what the value is. Thanks.

    Hello Kwertz...

The barrel address indicate that it was made in the 1952 - 1958 timeframe, as does the serial number. A 90% Sweet Sixteen is a very desirable gun, and should be worth at least $1,000. A real motivated buyer would probably go a fair bit higher. However, the true and actual current value of the gun is exactly what you just paid for it.

Thanks Bert, I paid 850.00 for it and was just wondering if I got a fair deal... I appreciate the info!

The 24th Edition Blue Book shows S41001-S62000 as 1956 production.
I really like my 1951 Sweet Sixteen and have a Japanese Invector choke barrel for it so I can use steel shot for waterfowl. The belgium barrels weren't made for steel shot.
