Could it be a Champion Model that he is talking of? I know they did produce them in 12,16,20,28,and .410

  yes iver johnson offered the 24 gauge in their small frame champion model 39. exact dates unknown but first listed in 1910 catalog. most likely discontined in 1918 as it is not listed in 1919 catalog.
