Throw it away and put a 10 or 20 round Non-Detachable mag on it.

I don't approve of political jokes. I've seen too many of them get elected.

    Hi king999,

Yes, the detachable mags are sometimes not too reliable.

There are only two solutions that are worth pursuing in my opinion with this rifle and having made several inquiries about conversions.

The first is just as D&D has stated.

The other solution is to buy new detachable mags and test them for function. Keep the ones that work correctly. I have found over the years that some of the better made steel mags have the highest probability of functioning correctly in the SKS rifle.

I did pretty much what Heavyiron suggested. You have to be methodical in finding gun/mag fits. Some slap in fine (some guns / some mags), some require a little 'skill', some don't cooperate.
I don't know what it is, but I could change out the mags in a particular sks almost as easy as an AK, I gave that one to a friend of mine and he cusses the 'duckbill mags'. To make it worse, he brings it over, hands it to me, and I change it out no problem.

The duckbills are a little wierd and particular. I think it would be best to use stripper clips to load whatever magazine you want in the gun. To quote my friend "there'd be a lota lil guys lying dead in a foxhole with one of these #%^ mags in his hand."

If we do not hang together,
We will most certainly hang separately.

all detachable mag for sks are JUNK!!! if you want to shoot alot of round really fast is is faster to load stripper clips into the gun that to try to reload you mags. i really want a 20 rd non-detach, but i can't find any.
