To chrome or not to chrome? AR style rifle.

Is it worth the extra 30-40 dollars to have my AR bbl chromed? I am using this rifle as a "tactical rig" and its a 16'' carbine, shouldnt be shooting at anything over 150m. I live in MD so the weather changes all the time....humid one day dry the next. Suggestions?

    If you know the history of the M16, you know part of the problems they had with them back in 'Nam was caused by the barrels not being chromed.

    I say spend the money, it's like insurance.

    that will make the barrel last MUCH longer,..so I say do it. Distance doesn't matter,..rate of fire (which in a semi-auto rifle can be quite fast) erodes the throat and reduces accuracy, the chrome lining was designed for that purpose in full auto's. Profit from someone else's experiments and line the bore. It may take a bit more break-in to smooth it out (using flitz, rem bore cleaner, jb's bore paste) but it will be worth it.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    Next question. I bought an AR from a friend. How can I tell if it is chromed? Will I be able to see a sleave or a different color?
