holster help
I would really like some input on a potential purchase. I have a few holster and only use them occasionally. I need a new holster for CCW. My dilemma is that I have a "blued" gun and want to protect the finish as much as possible. What material is LEAST abrasive to a guns finish.Leather, Plastic, Nylon?
Now from what I've seen, leather seems to do a real number on some guns. So am I right. Any input would help here.

ive recently purchased the above galco open end holster for my s&w 629 classic 5" .44. it didnt take long for me to realize this holster was a bad choice in that it leaves the barrel and front site exposed to cut into my leg when sitting.
id like to find a holster that covers the entire barrel but everything ive found for the 629 also fits the 6.5" barrel leaving me with more holster than i have gun. were it not for sitting comfort i would have purchased the 6.5" barrel anyway.
im wondering if anyone makes a holster specifically for the 5" classic so that i have enough, but not to much.
thanks!

after a whole lot of searching the only thing ive come up with is that desantis will custom build a holster for me, but at great expense. if this were a rare handgun i could understand the difficulty in finding a holster, but this is a somewhat popular standard production handgun and i just cant figure out why nobody makes a holster for it. Kramer makes a holster specifically for the 5" S&W N-frame guns. Dillon Precision sells them ($79.95) and you can check out Kramers website as well (search Kramer Holsters). These are high quality custom holsters that are very nice. 0 -
are you dead set on a belt holster? I have a bianchi x15 shoulder holster for my automag/smith 29 and i find it very comfortable. 0 -
