Questions about 11-87

I have been a very satisfied owner of an 1100 for over 28 years, but it's finally worn out. I'm looking at an 11-87, and I have two questions....

1. The extra gas ring on the magazine tube. That's for light loads only, right?

2. The barrels marked "Light Contour". Can I shoot heavy/Magnum duck/turkey loads out of it?

  Light Contour only means the barrel weighs less, so you have to pay more for a replacement, given the different receiver dimensions.
