Modelo 1891 marks???
A freind brought over a shotgun that needed some work and showed me an 1891 Modelo - The cartouch was ground off on this one but it did have a few marks that I could not find in my books. One looks like 2 hands shaking and was on all parts of the rifle. The other was in fancy script and was on the barrel and receiver - I think it was a "B" and "S" with a "M" over them... I only have a few books but could not find these. He told me the rifle was in 7.65 norma, but he was not for sure. It has a full lenght stock and is in pretty good shape - say 85-90%. Any thoughts on this one???

It's a Argentine Model 1891 Rifle. Early contract Mauser made in Germany for Argentina. Most distinctive feature is the external magazine that hangs down in front of the trigger guard.
These rifles were generally imported as surplus into the US many years back, circa 1950's. Most have the chamber crest of the Argentine Coat of Arms, ground off unfortunately.
There chambered for the 7.65 x 53mm Mauser, military cartridge.
