Ithica 6E trap
It seems the 6E is a rare bird less than 90 made and production stop about 1919. I have an opportunity to buy one. The gun is in great shape. Condition is as follows wood is clean with handling marks, checkering is very good(24lpi)recoil pad is an replacement. Barrel retains 90% blue with one place about the size of a dime has been lost. Receiver is finely engraved with gold game seen most of the color case is gone. Bore has very little pitting. So with that said I can not help but to think this is posiblity one of a few survivers in this good of contition. Yes, I know there are a couple some were like new. Yes, I know more imformation is needed to make a good evaluation. Has anybody seen one, does anbody have an opinion of it's worth. Just a lame opinion...
While probably a rare bird, the value is a big question mark. I don't mean because it isn't a nice piece, but because the market will be so limited.
Offer a price that makes you happy and not one cent more. If the seller agrees, then you've established the worth of the gun and both sides can be happy.
Don't even consider the future. In a decade you may encounter someone who places a much higher value on the gun than you do... Or not. Whether or not this happens, it shouldn't matter.

The short answer is no.
The longer answer is that it won't much matter because the gun is a fairly rare bird. When you get such a piece (A quality gun made in numbers of less than 10,000), then you're dealing with a narrow market and a group of VERY picky prospective buyers.
Even if a 6E sold at auction yesterday it would probably have little bearing on the sale price of your gun today... Fact is, it might even depress the value of your gun because the single buyer out there just left the market.
Offer what you think is fair. Hope the seller agrees. Be happy with a very nice gun.

Action is a tad loose and the barrel has only one serious bulge. Not to worry, though... It's almost at the muzzle so you can cut her down a few inches.

I think that you should get into a list of known collectors and start picking their brains for the value of this shotgun. You can contact the sellers of this one since they seem to know something about it, then try the book that they mention. As the others have so rightly pointed out, this is rarified air that you want to breathe with under 100 produced. The market is extremely narrow.
The best I could do was a 5E and I bought it to shoot, not to collect. Marvelous shotgun!
