I've always wanted an O/U 12ga. And saw some stoeger guns on the web.. Seems reasonably priced,BUT when I went to the stoeger forum saw some unhappy customer comments?/ What is the general thinking on the guns?? Thanks[?]

Yes, but a Browning will be worth much more after many years and will probably hold up under many thousands of rounds. Had a 26" sxs Stoeger hammerless, seemed nice for the $. After firing less than 200 rounds thru it, got bored (and black and blue) from getting the crap kicked out of me. The recoil even with trap loads is terrible. If you look at the profile, you'll see that the drop at the heel of the stock is steep and the muzzle climb/felt recoil is a lot. The wood isn't so great, either. The Baikal is as good or better than these. Better still, look around for a Stevens 311 or a Savage/Fox model B. Surprisingly, these won't kick the snot out of you and you might actually enjoy shooting them. They can be found nice, used for $250 to $350. 0
