I was at a gun show today and both caught my eye in a .223 cal. Armalite was a little more expensive. I was wondering if there was big differences in the two. Also how accurate are the peep scopes that come on the guns. I can't justify both scope and gun as a x-mas present to myself....Thanks

Since no one else has answered this question i will give you my thoughts on the subject. I have not fired the ar-10 however i have fired both Bushmaster and Armalite ar-15 both seem to be quality guns but i would probably go with the bushmaster for the very reason you stated, the fal mags. my two cents for what it's worth.

for a standard AR15, I would say either company would do just fine. However, for .308 I would put my money with Armalite--they were first, Im guessing they would have the design down pat by now.

I've never fired either, but Bushmaster's customer service and quality has never failed to impress me.

I say go with the Bushmaster.

I used to own an Armalitet ar-10 a4 (hence name[;)]) and I will say without question, that it is a fine rifle. BUT, the mags are converted m-14 mags and the only trustworthy ones are from Armalite.. At 80.00 apiece, the last time I looked.

I own a couple Bushmasters in the 5.56 flavor and they are fine rifles as well. But since making the same design rifle, only bigger, isn't that difficult, and the fal mags are cheaper, I would go with the Bushy.

I was presented with a trade I could NOT pass up on my ar-10, so I traded it, that is the only reason I parted with it. Kinda miss it too[;)] Just my .02

ive never fired either but based upon nothing more than my strong satisfaction and trust in my bushmaster ar15, a bushmaster .308 is definately on my "must have" list.

I've not heard good things about the Bushie 308s.......people are saying they are very inaccurate......

Since the ban on magazines has passed you will see Armalites magazines drastically drop in price as they no longer have to modify other mags to fit their rifle.

    I'd go with the Armalite.
