Tracers
A friend of mine bought some tracer rounds in .308. He asked me if they could cause any damage to his barrel. I told him I would ask the guys on the GB sight.
Any thoughts on potential problems with using tracers?

Will they harm the barrel of a rifle? They are being shot in a hunting/sport gun and not an evil black rifle, if it matters. 0 -
Prolonged use of Mil spec tracers WILL eventually cause damage to the barrel, but limited use with careful cleaning presents little trouble at all. Just don't go "Rambo" and you should be OK!

If they are not corrosive then they should not do any harm. The USGI tracers in 5.56 and 7.62 are non corr.
If the ammo he bought is recent US ammo or remanufactured ammo it will not damage his barrel.
As with any ammo you should clean your gun after shooting.
