Smith Wesson 657
I am hoping for information on a Smith & Wesson model 657, 41 magnum, 8 3/8" barrel, factory wood grips, non-pinned barrel, target trigger and hammer and red ramp front sight. This revolver is NIB, which is the blue plastic box. I do not have the serial #, but believe this model configuration may have been discontinued in the eary 1990's? Does anyone know when the new plastic boxes came out, and any estimates of value. Also is the 8 3/8" barrel less popular than the smaller lengths? Thank you for any input.

Iam a Smith collector and I personally dont care for the 8 3/8" barrels, but thats not to say others dont like them. I like to have all the barrel lengths of a certain model up to about 6 1/2".
The box your 657 is in is probably not the original since the 8" barrel was discontinued in 1993 and the blue plastic box was not introduced until 1996.
Your guns value in new cond is around $650.00, and about $550.00 in excellent condition.
