Help with action screws!!!...please read!!!
On my 03 A3, it is completely bedded, barrel, action, etc...at the front action screw it looks like it has a steel pillar from the magazine box and a steel pillar from the action at the back there isn't any pillar, how tight should i tighten the screws down, pretty tight?, thats how ive been doing it, it seems to shoot better pretty tight also...if i tightened to much could it hurt the wood?...i can tighten it a little bit more right now but im just wondering if i should worry about ruining the wood by doing that...

ruger, on the front end of that acion there is a boss, or sleeve, at the front of the trigger guard and another on the bottom of the recoil lug. These bosses control the front screw travel to a certain extent and I don't know for certain whether they should actually touch when the screw is tightened, but when the screw is tightened it pulls the magazine box into the receiver. If you tighten the screw past that point, you would be bending the trigger guard front end. I tend to tighten the front screw to the point that it is "two hands" tight with the magazine box not quite bottoming against the receiver.
On the rear screw, since the 03A3 action tang is drilled thru, I try to get a two hand tightness without the screw protruding into the bolt raceway, and the magazine box, again, not bottomed hard against the receiver.
