The finish from Winchester is sorry about my spelling "ANOADIZED ALUMINUM" this is something that even most BIG TIME gun shops don't have equipment to do sorry try yellow pages under Aluminum finishing.

It's called anodizing, and it's not out of range of speciality finishing shops.

    Try Checkmate Custom in Florida.

Hello hotshot! REanodizing aluminum ia not all that simple. It's simalar to plating, in the sense that inside diameters become smaller, outside diameters become larger, any channels or grooves will become smaller. You'll have to know if it is Type I, II, III anodize. The anodizer shop could tell you,, my guess it's type II. Perry was on target, look under metal finishes/platers in the yellow pages if your gunsmith hasn't figured this out. The internal areas of the receiver may have to be masked or honed afterwards to get the receiver back to where it should be. Just a guess, but I'd say you are looking at $100-$200 bucks to get this done. Based on my experience with metal finishers. Reguards Dave
