Sears "branded" name ... somewhere on the beast there should be a number, usually 3 digits followed by a period and more numbers, something like xxx.xxxx

With that number many of these guns can be cross referenced using the chart in the Blue Book or online at e-gunparts.

If you've not done this before, post the number, if it don't have one then the best you can do is post pix and hope someone has the time to go through their library picture by picture doing a "looks like" search.

Most likely suspects are Stevens/Savage and Harrington Richardson as they did a lot of hardware store contract mfg.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

Hello Ranger was sold thru SEARS back in 1940-1950's I think stevens made some but just about everybody made guns that were sold at sears with the name sears wanted on them. quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

Marlin and Stevens both sold rifles using the Ranger brand name; H&R did not. If your rifle is a single shot bolt, it is probably a Marlin model 34, their first bolt rifle.
    A picture would be conclusive.

Thanks all for the info. I am going to get her to bring it back in so I can take some photos and check more thoroughly for any numbers.
    Thanks again!
