another con of mag disconnect safety
just came back from frontsight in nevada (www.frontsight.com) and took the 2 day defensive handgun. it was great!!
after i reloaded my s&w 915 (with mag disconnect safety) i reholstered. as i took out my gun to shoot the trigger did not click. from the training i would not see this as a type 1 malfunction as i would expect a click with no bang. therefore i could no remedy the malfunction as quickly as possible, since it appeared to be a type 2 or type 3! i just had not seated the mag all the way in.
does anyone have any tips on disabling this feature? can i do it myself?

Not wise to do it and most competent gunsmiths will not do it either. The FBI did it on a number of 5906 & 03's and were marked accordingly. The feature is there for safety and should not be altered considering all you have to do is give the mag a rap as you put it in and then remember it's Tap, Rack and Bang.

They also did it to thier 1076's. I personally hate the idea of a mag disconnect safety on a defense weapon. I can see it for some roles, but I think it should be a special order that way, not the other.
If I have a gun out, the bad guy won't be getting close enough to try to take it away. I made that decision when I decided to have a gun for protection.
I don't mind the feature on my .22's and other non-defense guns.
The 10mm - either you've got it, or you don't get it...0
