Nylon 66 info...!
Hey, I bought a Nylon 66 off an auction site on line (brown stock) that has a receiver that looks like it has been bead blasted and blued, or something. Man, I was MADDER'N a mashed cat... I'd never seen a Nylon 66 receiver like that, and assumed it was some after market change. But today I saw ANOTHER 66 with the same type receiver. Was this something Remington did? If so, I will be happier than a SMashed cat! Anybody know?

I cannot say it was a factory finish.
I will say I have a brown-stocked '66' with the standard polished/blued receiver. I have seen the coarser-finished 66's at shows. It appeared that the finish was reasonably consistent between all those coarse-finished rifles. I would lean towards it being a Remington factory finish. Not an option but probably a production change in later 66's near the time of discontinuation.

Most of the 66'S I own in Mohawk brown have a finish on the receiver cover that looks like it was run across a belt sander before it was blued. If you want 'shiny', find yourself a 66 in Apache black. Pretty won't make it shoot any better, though, as any 66,76,10C, or 10 that I have has never so much as jammed or misfired and are all extremely accurate. Enjoy your 66 for what it is- a fine shooting piece of American craftsmanship. 0
