More comfortable CCW gun
Well, it's almost time to buy another pistol. I have a Springfield 1911A1 Champion (4" barrel) that I carry in an IWB holder in the small of my back (so the grip points toward my left) and it's nice for carry there, but when I'm sitting down it can be uncomfortable.
So I'm thinking about diving into something else in addition for all-day concealed carry. A Glock, perhaps? I'm looking at models 27, 29, and 30 (27 is slightly smaller but they're all basically the same frame; in .40 S&W, 10mm, and .45 ACP respectively). I've never shot a 10mm before, but from what I know I would feel comfortable carrying any of these calibers for my own defense (presuming the 10mm lives up to what people say it does - but that's not the debate here unless you have a very objective reason to favor it to my beloved .45 or the more compact .40, especially since each of these guns has the same magazine capacity).
Are there other recommendations around than a Glock? How about location of carry for all-day comfort, be it sitting, standing, jogging, or whatever else?

I've got a Glock 27, and would rather have a Glock 23.
The barrel lengths are only 1/2 inch different, and you won't have to buy mag extensions for your 'pinky' finger with the 23. Plus, now that the ban has expired, you can buy 13 round mags for the 23.

There's going to be lot's o' opinion here. I have a Kahr PM9 that is small, and a Para Ord. 6.45. Both are small, but a friend who also has a Kahr has a KelTec 380 which he is never without. It depends some on your laws of concealment and your caliber choice, but small and light .....You just don't leave home without it. Kahr also make PM40? Same basic size only in .40S&W 0 -
How does the Kahr PM40 compare to a Glock 27 in size, ease of cleaning, durability, reliability, safety, etc? I want a gun that I can really abuse and expect to fire when I need it to and never when I don't, no matter how much sweat, dirt (within reason; no AK-47's please!), and jarring around I give it; and I want to be able to conceal it easily on my person without a chance of anyone around me knowing it's there (sometimes my 1911 will print through my shirt if I bend forward even slightly). 0 -

My choice for year round carry is the SIG 229. 0 -
I just bought a Sig Sauer 239 in 40cal. It is ideal for a CCW. Small, slim and still packs a punch.

I am gonna have to echo what Patriots 49 brought to the forum, the Sig Saur, be it a 229, or 220, is a hard package to beat for all around carry, concealability, and dead bang reliability every day! And that is what is most important at days end, did it preform for you when you needed it, and can you rely on it when your life is one the line?
Anything other than that, is not worth worrying about!

My calibur of choice is 10mm. That being said, if comfort is a primary concern the Sig P229 in 40 S&W or the P220 in 45acp is a very good choice. I carry the S&W 1076. Do your home work. [8D]

Didn't care for the Glock 27's lack of an manual safety (personal chioce). Now carrying a Taurus PT140. I have shot about 400 rounds through it with no problem. Good thing is, it fits the same holster as the Glock 27. Another plus is 11 round capacity. 0 -
Here is my Kahr PM40, I carry it everyday and love it, super reliable and accurate. I love the trigger too! Oh, and the Kahr is way smaller than a Baby Glock. 0 -
I like my S&W Model 66 snubbie with 158 gr. 38 Spl +P. As Clint Smith says, a gun should be comforting, not necessarily comfortable.
I'd try different carry methods. IWB requires a certain anatomy to work well. Maybe a small of back holster would work better.
