there are basically [4] types. [1] is the type yhat replaces the dust cover. KKRAP!!! [2] is the siderail type.mostof the romanians, saigas, and the romain 3, and the dragonov tigers have a rail onthe lefthand type of the receiver. this mount slides on the rail and depending on the manufacturer, either latches over and secures, or tightens with allen bolts.[3] is made by B-Square and incapsulates the top of the receiver and is held on buy the new receiver pins, they supply in the kit. this mount makes it very hard to clean your weapon. [4] is a mount that secures to the gas tube assembly, like on a scout rifle. Great for red dot scopes, but for conventional scopes, you have to use a long eye relief scope, like a pistol scope!!! I personally use the second one on my 5.45 Ak 74. it all depends on what type of ak or ak variant you have!!!need help or mounts contact me hatchettman2003@yahoo.com

Thanks Bill, RogerAK and Mark C.

For your suggestions and taking time to post pictures.

Although I asked for information for the AK 47, our rifle is a Romanian AKT 98 and is the spitting image of the AK 47.

The difference being that the AKT 98 is 22 LR.The 30 round AK magazine is equiped with an insert that accepts 10 rounds of 22LR. The action is blow back. The furniture is of a black plastic material.
The rail for mounting the scope is identical to the AK 47type battle rifles.

Once again thanks for you all taking time to help out. I have decided that I will use the same system that was pictured in the Mark Christian picture .
